DR. DJAHANE BANOO

As both an academic and a trained and experienced coach, Dr. Djahane Banoo has a profound grasp of the many dimensions that make up the academic experience. She has developed her coaching style and workshops based on my years of experience working at universities and coaching students, postdocs, researchers, and professors.

Dr. Banoo is Ivy-League trained researcher and lecturer. She received my B.A. from Dartmouth College, Magna Cum Laude, and Phi Beta Kappa and received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University in Development Sociology and Science and Technology Studies. She trained at Mentor Coach, a program accredited by the International Coaching Federation and based on the principles of positive psychology. She has lectured, run workshops and coached at some of the world's top universities including ETH Zurich, Max Plank Institute, University of Zurich, EPFL, and the University of St. Gallen’s Executive School to name but a few. Her research has been supported by a number of prestigious research grants, including funds from the U.S. National Science Foundation, the Swiss National Science Foundation, the German Academic Exchange (DAAD). As a coach, Dr. Banoo never stray far from her academic roots. By training and by choice, she always stay abreast of the latest research on productivity, habit formation, work-life balance, organizational development, and leadership. Dr. Banoo is also the Managing Director of the Graduate School for Environment, Society, and Global change, were she runs a program for over 200 doctoral students to achieve academic success.

DR. MARTIN GUTMANN

Martin Gutmann is a partner at Align Coaching and a Professor of leadership, communication, and negotiation at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and at ETH Zurich. He works extensively with individuals and organizations on talent and leadership development, including various federal departments of the Swiss government and financial services organizations, such as Swiss Re and Zurich Insurance. In addition to his Ph.D. in history from Syracuse University (USA), he holds an Executive MBA from ie Business School (Spain).

His research has been supported by the CLIR Mellon Foundation, the European Research Council and various other international funding agencies. He has published extensively in top academic presses, including with Cambridge Univeristy Press and Oxford University Press.
